Can't argue with this place - it was clean, good bathrooms (way above average in Nepal), opposite the national park and museum, and am sure you could see all sorts of wildlife from the balcony. Family who ran it seemed very friendly.

A few drawbacks: slightly off the main drag - get a bike.. Check space under doors, insects may get in.

It's called Hotel Rhinoceros for a reason!!!
People are super friendly, Prakash and his family are really sweet and caring. Beds are comfortable enough and the bathroom is very very clean, which is always a good sign.
Food is good.
Sheets were old and had holes on it, plus they were not the right size (they were bed covers, not sheets) so it was a little bit uncomfortable at night.

The hotel is recommended, I'd definitely come back. Not a 5 star hotel, but a very nice homestay with lovely people and a good environment.

I'd suggest getting new sheets.

I booked this property because I saw many good reviews, but I left it with a conflict with a host. The reason for this is the fine print that was not written anywhere but later was mentioned upon arrival. For example, don't use a shower for more than 5-10m, if you use the kitchen you have to pay 50-100 NRS depending on how much gas you will use. The kitchen was available in the reservation, but not available upon arrival, not really. I had to ask permission for using it every time, as half of the necessary tools were not available. The rooms were cold, the shower was cold, except from 12-19h when the solar panel would heat the water, provided it was not a clouded day. The room is clean enough, provided you don't look at it closely, especially in the shower. You may see a rhino under the house, but pictures are misleading, as hosts took them in a specific way, which will make you believe that the house is within safari, which it is not. The host will treat you like a cash machine, trying to get some extra money from you at every turn. This is also why it is good to check other places for booking a trip at the safari. Overall, if you are planning to have a very short stay (1 or 2 days) during the warm season and you are planning to use minimum amenities, you are unlikely to have a problem. However, prepare to have some issues especially if your stay is even a little bit longer.

Amazing place! Amazing location: you can see rhinoceros AND elephants right in front of the hotel!! They’re walking as if it was absolutely normal. The guest Prakash is really nice and highly efficient. We were a groupe of 10 and he handled it perfectly, giving us enough margin but at the same leading when we were unorganized and late. So he’s a really well balanced guide who also works in the jungle and know how to spot animals. With him we saw 10 rhinoceros 3 bears, countless deers and elephants and birds. His family is lovely and cooked good food for us. The place was super clean.

Homestay in the phrase here. It's a hotel but within a short time it feels like home. The cleanest hotel room I have ever seen. Nicely decorated, squeaky clean and fully functioning bathroom and it's set just outside of central sauraha so at night is so quiet. The family are absolutely charming providing me with my morning pot of tea and delicious masala omelette. I first stayed here on my way onwards for just a few nights and decided that upon my return I'll stay here again for a few nights, but I felt so at home I think I stayed around 10 nights. Was actually rather sad to leave. Just lovely.

Had an amazing stay at Hotel Rhinocerus in Chitwan. My fiancee and I had been cycling the Terai for a week when we arrived and we could not believe how clean and comfortable the rooms are for such a reasonable price. The owners are so welcoming and put a lot of effort into organizing any Chitwan excursions or other travel logistics you might need (the jungle walking tour was excellent and they worked hard to get us and our bicycles a ride up to Pokhara when I fell too ill to cycle on). Added bonus of getting to observe a local rhino who grazes right behind and across from their property. Thank you for such a great stay.
