The famous place since ages. It was the royal court from the ancient ages. Previously the kings family used to sit and work on the hearings. Along with the prolific architecture of Wooden carvings this place is having a lot of temples and areas of shopping. A beautiful place to spend evening and mornings. A must visit place.

This is another historical place. Also a place for shopping all kinds of stuff. There are a lot of roof top cafe's around. Feels warm in the evening. Place looks lovely with so many people around. There is also a pedestrian street where vehicles are not allowed.

A good place to shop jewelry. I found one aunty's collection really unique and bought some jewelry from her. You need to bargain here as the things initially might seem a bit expensive. There are a lot of good cafés here also. This market also has beautiful traditional structures and temples.

The square is one of the most visited and historical places in the city. The square is a complex of temples, museums, and history. The museum you need to buy at the entrance of the square and there are washrooms and a charging point in the museum. There are many cafeterias near an open market. It also has a house of Goddess (Kumari) in the square. The square is well connected to public transportation and usually crowded on weekends.

This place speaks a lot about the culture and heritage of the country. It's basically a complex comprising of temples, shopping stores, eateries etc. I highly feel that this place needs a lot of maintenance. Hope the govt. does that as it's a touristic place and more importantly it's a place of the national importance.

This complex has many temples and shrines. The museum is under renovation. But doing reading prior to visiting this complex is very useful. I recommend Thomas Bell's book "Kathmandu." It helps me to understand religious backgrounds of Kathmandu including Durbar Square.
