A historical tower made almost 200 year ago by Bhimsen Thapa. Later it has fallen down twice and rebuilt by govt. and some other country aid. Gives a nice few of city. It is still under construction for restaurant and cafe so people can hang out here.

Dharahara is a 72-metre-tall tower at the centre of Sundhara, Kathmandu, Nepal.

It was first built in 1832 by Mukhtiyar (equivalent to Prime Minister) Bhimsen Thapa under the commission of Queen Lalit Tripurasundari and was a part of the architecture of Kathmandu recognized by UNESCO.It has been damaged and reconstructed several times.

The tower had a spiral staircase containing 213 steps. The eighth floor held a circular balcony for observers that provided a panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley. It also had a 5.2-metre (17 ft) bronze mast on the roof.

Most of the tower collapsed in the 25 April 2015 Nepal earthquake, but the base remains.A total of 180 bodies were retrieved from the debris of tower after earthquake.

Reconstruction of the tower commenced in October 2018, and it was officially opened on 24 April 2021, one day before the sixth anniversary of the earthquake.

Always in the heart of millions ????. Although it was destroyed in the earthquake, it is reconstructed and looks amazing. It's not opened for the public yet but as soon as it is opened, plenty of people will come to visit this historically important tower. The newly constructed one is taller and more beautiful than the last one. You must come and visit it.

Still not open to the public. I can only imagine the view from the top. Looks like they reconstructed the new structure next to the old one as you can still see the remainings of the old one which was destroyed by the earthquake.

The current tower area is spread over an area of u200bu200babout 21,367.08 Square meter . It can be seen that the ruins of Bhimsen pillar destroyed by the earthquake of 2072 BS have been covered and protected. Although the tower looks 11 storeys high from the outside, there is a two-storey underground structure inside the tower. It was learned that the tower will have 25 floors with 23 floors including the ground floor.

The height of the tower is 83.85 meters from the ground, including Gajur, which when connected to the underground floor reaches 92.25 meters. The tower can only be seen from the outside until the construction work is completed.
