Yes this is the best 5 stars hotel you can find in Miri and attractive pricing. The staffs are friendly and warmth.
Sauna, pool and whole environment is wonderful.
However, there is a big cockroach in the toilet during the second night we stay and the toilet bowl is smelly if you forgot to close the lid.

Overall the experience is good

Good facility but my daughter almost lost her life at the swimming pool. The swimming pool is the main attraction to bring your family to this resort but they can’t even afford to hire a pool attendant to watch over the crowd. Adult pool is in between two kids swimming pool, so if your kids want to move from one to another they might mistakenly jump into adult swimming pool. That’s what happened to my 4 years old daughter. In split seconds i lost my sight on her, she was no where to be found. Luckily a boy saw her jump into the adult swimming pool and immediately locate and pull her up. It happened few months back but it haunt me until now so I have to write this post.

So this is a weird review... I have never been fleeced by any hotels...let alone one of my regulars...

Having stayed at this property over 20 years since it was a HI and i was a teenager. I had their breakfast for the past 20 years, i think i got over it. Burnt coffee, stale pastries, underwhelming stir fries. Which is why i never book breakfast past few years.

So first stay post covid....

Wham! I was surprised to be billed for breakfast for two. I never even set foot in the restaurant. Hotel claimed i have, but i did not. Its not that i cant afford to be fleeced RM100, but this is akin to your old friend stealing from you. Leaves you dazed and disappointed.

My advise for future guests is to go to the Restaurant, record a video with the waitress to confirm that you did not come in for breakfast, to prevent being fleeced by the hotel.

What a sad state of affairs. Mr GM, you should cut short your holidays.

Btw, my toilet wash basin leaks... whole toilet floor became a death trap. Thank god it wasnt the toilet seat. It would stinks, like the hotel.

We booked Marriott because of its global 5 stars reputation. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with Miri Marriott.

We were given connecting rooms. The rooms were big with 2 separate queen beds. However there were no bathtubs. When we requested for a room change the staff said rooms with bath tubs are fully occuppied.

The hotel itself looks run down, probably post covid. The exterior wasnt repainted, facing the south china sea it waa rusty.

We found ants on the TV console even after housekeeping was done. One of the toilets had a sewer smell and there were small flies under the sink drainage. The shower area drain was clogged too.

The bathrobe given was torn and some of the bath towels were thin and worn out.

The pillows werent the best of marriott pillows, fully and soft but then and hard.

We also found blood stains on the bedsheet.

The swimming pool area have a urine like smell maybe because they dont use much chlorine in the pool water.

However the buffet spread for breakfast and seafood dinner was good.

This hotel is a great place to stay, only that my toilet sink water always spill on the floor. It it because of the sink design and the pipe not properly aim the sink bowl, very bad design. I have to wipe it everyday. But overall, ok.

This place is balanced of old and new. Old decor with new vibe. Always see guests frequent the facilities here. Swimming pool is awesome. Restaurant and cafe are always busy.

Been going on and off to this place since I was a kid and it was known then as Royal Rihga. The rooms (the chalets at least) has been refurbished so it feels new. It's all the little details that makes the staycation experience very luxurious and true to the Marriott brand. Great shower with strong pressure. Nice firm bed but the pillows were too soft. The AC doesn't seem to work very well as other reviewers have mentioned before. There were mosquitoes on our first night in. The negatives were not a big deal to my family though, was still a comfortable stay. Breakfast spread is fine and more than adequate

Pool is great and maintained fairly well, I did find a chicken drumstick bone in the pool on the first day. But other than that, great. Beware though of the shaded kids pool as it is close to the deep end of the adult pool.

Would come here again for staycation.
